How to Become a Member


Each telescope has a standard hourly rate expressed in points per hour. This hourly rate is dependent on your membership plan and the current lunar phase. The current hourly rate is displayed in the "GRAS Info Center" for each telescope.

To join Global Rent-a-Scope you need to become a member, we provide a number of plans each providing different ranges of benefits.

Membership for Science Researchers

Research memberships provide price optimize rates on all our Research Telescopes G1, G2, G4, G7 and G15 while still providing access to the complete telescope network.

Monthly Plans
Monthly plans provide a set amount of points that is credited to your account each month, better rates then the bulk plans and additional benefits like Private FTP Account and the Telescope Reservation System depending on plan selected. Additional Points can be purchased to supplement your account balance at any time.

Bulk Points Plans
Bulk membership plans provide a fixed amount of points at the time of sale, these plans are non-recurring and have a slightly higher telescope rate then the monthly plans. Additional features like Private FTP and the Telescope reservation system can be purchased as upgrades.

"Telescope Rate From" and "Includes Hours From" are calculated from the lowest telescope rate under that given membership plan.

Please refer to each plan directly for individual telescope rates.

Additional points can be purchased to supplement your current membership plan at any stage.


Terms and Conditions

  1. New user accounts are typically created within 2-4 hours, however please allow up to 24 hours.
  2. Points are valid for 12 months from time of purchase unless otherwise stated.
  3. Monthly subscriptions are purchased through PayPal and are billed monthly. Included points in the plan also accrue monthly and any un-used points will be rolled into your next months balance. Points are consumed at the rate as per your current membership subscription, this also include any rolled over points from previous membership subscriptions. The monthly subscription can be cancelled by you at any time provided you give PayPal sufficient notice to process your request before the next billing cycle.
  4. If you cancel your monthly subscription plan your account and points balance will be suspended until such time you resume a membership plan. Any un-used points are valid for 12 months from the time of canceling the monthly subscription plan.
  5. Global Rent-A-Scope reserves the right to add and subtract telescopes to the global network and vary the rates at any given time.
